Connecting your Computer to a TV

Before you start, please check the following:

1. Does your computer a TV-out socket?

No
You can either upgrade your video card to one with a TV output or you can use a VGA to S-video/composite video adaptor.
Yes
Locate the socket as shown in figure 1.

All the latest generation televisions, as well as having a number of Scart sockets on the rear of the television, also have phono sockets (these are red, white and yellow) and S-video inputs (a small 4-pin connector) on the front panel of the television (see fig 2)

Computer S-video to TV S-video
Connect your computer's TV-out (S-video) to the TV's S-video input using an S-video cable like that shown in figure 3.

If you are using a VGA to S-video cable, you can just connect the S-video output of your PC to the input on the television.


Computer S-video to TV composite video
Use an S-video to composite video and audio cable like that shown in figure 4. If your cable also has audio connectors, ensure you match the colour (yellow, red and white) of the plug to the colour of the socket on the TV.

Computer S-video to TV scart socket
Connect your computer's TV-out (S-video) socket to your television's scart input using an S-video/Scart cable like that shown in figure 5.

Use an S-video cable (fig. 3) to connect the computer's TV-out to the television.

Note:
Remember to move the selection switch to the input position as shown in figure 6.

Computer phonos to TV S-video
If your computer has a composite video output (phono socket), use a composite video to S-Video cable like that shown in fig 4 to connect your TV to your computer fig.5


Computer phonos to TV phonos
Use a cable like that shown in figure 7.
Some cables have 3 connectors at each end: a yellow one for video and red and white connectors for left and right audio.

You will need to use a Scart adaptor like that shown in figure 5 and a cable like that shown in figure 7.


CONNECTING AUDIO
To connect the audio use a cable like that shown in figure 8.

PC Audio out TO TV RCA.
1. Insert the mini jack connector into the Audio out of the computer.
2. Connect the RCA connectors to the Audio inputs (fig 2) on the television.


PC Audio out TO TV presa SCART.
1. Use a SCART adaptor like the one shown in figure 5.
2. Insert the mini jack connector into the Audio out on the computer.
3. Connect the RCA audio connectors to the RCA sockets on the SCART adaptor.


SOFTWARE FOR MANAGING YOUR VIDEO CARD

If your PC video card has a TV out socket, your computer or video card supplier may have provided tools for managing the settings and outputs of the card.
You can usually change your video card's settings as follows:

1. Right-click the mouse on the desktop.
2. Click on 'Properties'
3. Select the 'Settings'
4. Click on the 'Advanced' button
5. Select the section for managing the video outputs (possibly labelled 'Monitor').

If you experience problems, consult the user guide supplied with your video card.

TUNING THE TELEVISION
To view your computer's output on your TV, once you have connected the appropriate cable, sekect the appropriate input on your TV. These are usually labelled AV1, AV", etc.
If you experience any problems, please consult the instruction manual for your television.

Stream the movie to watch it right away or download it to your computer to watch later.
Buying Movies
You can buy movies simply by charging to your credit or debit card.
